Filtration

Commercial & Industrial Filtration Systems

Culligan offers a wide range of technologies, products and services to meet the water quality and quantity requirements of our customers’ ultra-pure water applications. Filtration is the process of removing particles from water, absorbing odors, tastes, color and organic pollutants, removing iron, chlorine, manganese and arsenic, and neutralizing water acidity. Simple in appearance, filtration is actually a sophisticated water treatment process used for applications such as boiler feedwater treatment, cooling towers, injection water, sterilization systems, wastewater treatment, chemical compounds, chlorinated solvents, hydrocarbon treatment, and polychlorinated biphenyl removal.

Our industrial filters and ultrafiltration systems are manufactured entirely in our Culligan plants. The cylinders are made of steel and protected by anti-corrosion coatings and a thick layer of resin on the inside and synthetic paint on the outside. On our industrial filters, automatic maintenance and backwash cycles are controlled by a group of hydraulic valves operated by programmable electronic software.

Here are some of the most common functions:

  • Iron filtration
  • Sand filtration
  • Carbon filtration
  • Arsenic filtration

Take control of your water problems with a Culligan dealkalizer. Using a process similar to softening, dealkalization reduces anions such as chloride, nitrate and sulfate in your water. Alkalinity is often a factor that limits the efficiency of boiler operation. It contributes to the corrosiveness of boiler water and the high use of water and chemicals. Culligan offers dealkalizers tailored to your specific needs to improve boiler performance and reduce operating costs.

From car washes to restaurants, a dealkalizer could be the solution for your business:

  • Heating & cooling
  • Steam generation
  • Alkalinity and/or sulfate reduction
  • Car wash
  • Processing industry
  • Hospitals
  • Restaurants
  • Office buildings or apartment blocks

Demineralization

Water demineralized / Deionizers / Demineralizer with portable exchange and automatic – Filter Di –

Water demineralization by ion exchange is frequently accomplished by on-site deionizers that automatically regenerate at a predetermined frequency, consume acid and caustic, and discharge wastewater containing high concentrations of acid and caustic. These systems are expensive to buy and require intensive maintenance. Culligan also offers a service for regenerating bottles of demineralized water.

Deionization service, also known as “Portable Exchange Deionization”, uses tanks containing deionization resins that are connected to your process with flexible connectors and are exchanged when exhausted, and then regenerated at a Culligan Service Center.

Benefits of the portable deionization service include:

  • Without chemical products or hazardous materials : No need for frequent training on hazardous chemicals is no of dikes or of systems of retention necessary, no treatment of water from discharge required.
  • Reduced maintenance costs: Culligan replaces depleted tanks with freshly regenerated tanks as needed.
  • Low capital investment: You pay only by exchanging for tanks.
  • Flexibility to respond to variations in flow and in quality of water: Flow rates available from 0.5 gpm to 500 gpmquality of 50,000 ohm-cm to 18,000,000 ohm-cm.

“Ultra-pure” is the water treatment industry term that refers to water that meets stringent limits on many or all of the following components: dissolved or suspended solids, organic carbon, dissolved gases and biological organisms (i.e.: bacteria, viruses, pyrogens). Water meeting these characteristics is generally required for pharmaceutical, electronic and optical manufacturing processes, as well as research and medical applications. Several organizations publish standards governing the purity of ultrapure water. Examples of these include USP, ASTM, CAP, NCCLS, ANSI and AAMI.

Here are some of the most common functions:

  • Photo development
  • Galvanizing
  • Mixing liquid chemical compounds
  • Humidification
  • Glass manufacturing
  • Water for laboratories
  • Free of chemicals or hazardous materials; no frequent training on hazardous chemicals, no dikes or other retention systems required, no discharge water treatment required.
  • Eliminate maintenance costs: Culligan exchanges depleted tanks with freshly regenerated ones as required.
  • Low capital investment. You pay by tank exchange.
  • Flexibility to meet variable water flow and quality requirements. Provides flow rates from 0.5 gpm to 500 gpm and quality from 50,000 ohm-cm to 18,000,000 ohm-cm.

Reverse osmosis

Industrial Reverse Osmosis

Culligan® Industrial and Commercial Reverse Osmosis Systems are used in a wide range of commercial and industrial applications to significantly reduce the levels of dissolved minerals, particles, organic matter, and silica in your water. Whether for distillation, drinking water filtration for restaurants, or rinse water treatment for large galvanizing plants, Culligan manufactures systems for a multitude of commercial and industrial applications.

Culligan® Reverse Osmosis Systems provide ultrapure water solutions that reduce costs, increase efficiencies and aid profitability by :

  • Reducing water and electricity consumption
  • Reducing costs associated with landfill and wastewater treatment
  • Recovering metals in finishing operations
  • Improving customer satisfaction by serving high-quality beverages
  • Provides rinse water that won’t stain when washing vehicles, fabricating and finishing metals or rinsing parts

Membrane

Membrane System

Greater savings and productivity, less scale build-up and less suspended solids.

Membrane solutions represent a revolutionary advance in water filtration. Using semi-permeable membranes, these technologies purify water by effectively removing impurities, contaminants and unwanted particles, while preserving essential elements.

Membrane filtration systems are versatile and suitable for a wide range of applications, from drinking water purification to industrial filtration and wastewater treatment. They offer a reliable and efficient solution for guaranteeing water quality in a variety of environments, whether for businesses, municipalities or homes.

UV Solution

Industrial and commercial UV (ultraviolet) lamp

Culligan’s ultraviolet (UV) water treatment systems are a physical process containing no chemical compounds. They directly attack and neutralize the DNA of bacteria, rendering them unable to reproduce and therefore harmless. In addition to destroying microorganisms, UV water treatment can help reduce oxidizable carbon (TOC), eliminate chlorine, chloramine and ozone, and kill microbes.
